              remove a trailing SUFFIX

       -z, --zero
              separate output with NUL rather than newline

       --help display this help and exit

              output version information and exit

              -> "sort"

       The full documentation for basename is maintained as a Texinfo manual. If the info and basename programs are properly installed at your site, the command

              info coreutils 'basename invocation'

       should give you access to the complete manual.
